If you’re more of a video person, feel free to check out this walkthrough where we take a deep dive into setting up your emails using the Rise email builder.

How to customize your Email notifications

  1. In your Rise.ai dashboard, click on the Emails tab.

2. Choose the email you’d like to edit from the list by clicking Preview & Edit.

3. At the top, you can customize the email subject. Click “See variables” to view a list of placeholders you can use. Clicking on a Placeholder will copy it to your clipboard so you can easily paste it into the subject or body.

4. Customize the content using sections, use the drag-and-drop editor to add, remove, or reorder sections like headings, images, text blocks, and dividers.

If needed, you can always click “Reset email to default” to revert to the original layout. Just note that this will clear all edits for that email.

How to customize the Email template

Adjust global styling for all emails, under the Global theme tab, you can update the overall design that applies to all email templates.

  • Logo: Upload your brand logo, adjust its size, and choose where it links (e.g. your shop’s homepage using {{shop_url}}).

  • Colors and styling: Set your preferred background colors and email width for consistency across all email types.

  • Social media: Add your social media handles and any accompanying text you'd like in the footer.

  • White label (Premium only): Optionally remove the Rise logo or use a custom sender email. This feature is available for Premium plans only. To learn how to remove Rise branding from your email, click here.

  • Reply to address: Define which email address replies will be directed to.

Save and preview your email

Once you’re happy with your changes, click Save to apply them. This will update the live version of the email your customers will receive.

You can also click Send test to send a preview to your inbox. This lets you review the email's layout and content before it’s sent to customers.

Mobile preview - You can see a mobile version of your emails by clicking on the Mobile icon at the top of the screen:

How to add an unsubscribe link to your emails

If you’d like to include an unsubscribe link in your emails, you can use the built-in Unsubscribe section. Just click Add section and select Unsubscribe from the list of available email sections.

What happens when a customer clicks “Unsubscribe”

When a customer clicks the unsubscribe link in the email, a new tab will open asking them to confirm their choice. The unsubscribe process will only be completed once they click “Confirm.”

Important things to note

  • The Unsubscribe section is only available in Reminder and Store Credit email templates. It won’t appear as an option in other types of emails.

  • If a customer unsubscribes from Reminder emails, they will no longer receive both gift card and store credit reminders.

  • If they unsubscribe from Store Credit emails, they will stop receiving the other store credit emails.

  • If a customer wants to continue to receive emails after unsubscribing, please contact the Rise support team and we will add them back to the mailing list.

Code your own email template

Looking for complete creative freedom? Use the “Code your own” option to design fully customized emails with our built-in HTML editor. This feature allows you to build emails exactly the way you want, without the limitations of the drag-and-drop builder.

Note: This feature is available only for merchants on our Premium plan and requires familiarity with HTML.

Gift card email expiration policy

For security reasons, gift card links expire 7 days after the original email is sent.

Since gift cards hold actual monetary value, we limit the timeframe to reduce the risk of unauthorized access in case someone gains access to the customer email inbox.

Once the link expires, the gift card is still valid, but a new email with a new access link will be sent automatically to the same address when the customer clicks the expired link.

When clicking an expired link, this message will appear:

Please note: This expiration screen is a fixed security measure and cannot be customized.
